KUALA LUMPUR, January 2 — States across Malaysia today launched the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign with coordinated welcoming events at major entry points, including airports, ferry terminals, ports and immigration complexes, aimed at strengthening the country’s appeal as a top international tourism destination.
Tourists were greeted with cultural performances, traditional attire and appearances by VM2026 mascots Wira and Manja in states such as Pahang, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Sarawak and Sabah, as state leaders outlined ambitious visitor targets and pledged close cooperation with the Federal Government to ensure the campaign’s success.
Similar receptions were also held in Perlis and Perak, with both states unveiling tourism programmes and products to attract domestic and international visitors, while highlighting natural attractions, heritage and gastronomy.
The nationwide launch marks the start of intensified promotional efforts under VM2026, with states confident the campaign will boost tourist arrivals, stimulate local economies and reinforce Malaysia’s position as a leading tourism hub in the region.
