MARANG, January 3 — PAS has confirmed it will take over the leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN) following the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the coalition’s chairman, which took effect yesterday.

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said a meeting to discuss and decide on a new PN chairman will be held next week, with Bersatu leaders also expected to attend. Speaking to reporters after delivering a lecture at Masjid Rusila today.

Abdul Hadi said PAS has several potential candidates, including religious scholars and technocrats, but declined to name any. Responding to suggestions that he could lead the coalition, the Marang Member of Parliament said his current health condition would not allow him to take on the role.
