PETALING JAYA, January 10 — The government has reaffirmed its commitment to keep the My50 public transport pass priced at RM50 despite facing a RM100 million funding shortfall, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said, after passenger claims exceeded the initial RM200 million allocation.

He revealed that Prasarana Malaysia Bhd absorbed part of the deficit, with the balance covered through emergency funding at the end of 2025, and said the ministry is now seeking a higher allocation to sustain the programme.

Each My50 subscriber receives an estimated RM100 monthly subsidy for unlimited LRT, MRT and bus rides in the Klang Valley, with subscriptions reaching 254,329 as of December 2025, while a new “savings tracker” on the Touch ’n Go eWallet app from January 19.

Will highlight the true value of the subsidy to encourage greater public transport use amid Prasarana’s annual RM1.1 billion operational deficit.
