ANKARA, January 12 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have expressed confidence that the US$10 billion bilateral trade target between Malaysia and Turkiye is well within reach.

Citing the strength of both economies and expanding cooperation into high-value sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres, rare earths, defence, halal industry and Islamic finance. In a joint press statement issued during Anwar’s official visit to Turkiye.

The Prime Minister said the partnership is evolving beyond traditional trade through education, research and transparent government-to-government collaboration, noting that Malaysia’s trade with Turkiye reached RM21.2 billion from January to November 2025.

While in 2024 Turkiye ranked as Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner and largest export destination among West Asian countries.
