PETALING JAYA, January 12 – Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will introduce 250 electric buses into service by March 2027 as part of its ongoing fleet modernisation drive, alongside the completion of delivery for 310 new diesel buses by February next month, said president and group CEO Amir Hamdan.

Speaking at the launch of Prasarana’s 2025 performance report, he said the additions are aimed at strengthening service availability and improving the operational reliability of the Rapid Bus network, complemented by infrastructure upgrades including 301 completed bus stops and 16 pedestrian walkways, with more under construction.

Prasarana will also expand dedicated bus lanes to improve travel times, introducing new bus-only lanes on Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Gombak from the third quarter of 2026, while making the Jalan Ampang bus lane permanent to enhance service consistency in high-demand urban corridors.
