PETALING JAYA, January 17 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad has launched Malaysia’s first Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) open payment tolling pilot for private vehicles along the 87.7-kilometre Hutan Kampung–Sungai Dua stretch of the North-South Expressway.

Allowing registered users to enjoy “lane freedom” by entering and exiting through any toll lane at nine selected plazas, including Alor Setar, Sungai Petani and Bertam, in a move that marks a key step towards the future Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system and aims to ease congestion while improving safety at toll plazas.

The pilot uses AI- and machine learning-powered ANPR cameras to automatically detect vehicle number plates and process toll payments via the JustGO Malaysia mobile app, which enables users to register their vehicles, link preferred payment methods such as debit or credit cards.

And drive without additional devices or upfront costs, while existing payment options remain available, barriers stay in place, and further digital payment features, including e-wallets and online banking, are set to be introduced in the coming months.
