KUALA LUMPUR, January 20 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded a statement from a senior Malaysian Armed Forces officer as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of funds related to asset and weapons procurement.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that the officer arrived at the commission’s headquarters in Putrajaya at around 11am on Sunday to assist with the probe, adding that no arrests have been made and the statement-recording process is still underway.
Azam said the officer is the only individual summoned on the day, with the investigation forming part of a wider MACC probe into suspected irregularities in military procurement. Previous inquiries have involved a former Army chief and family members.
While several companies linked to defence contracts are also being examined over allegations of repeatedly securing high-value projects through improper means.
