PUTRAJAYA, January 19 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Unity Government members of Parliament to prioritise their responsibilities and engage in constructive debate as the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament begins today.
The reminder was delivered during a pre-sitting briefing at the Seri Perdana Complex, where Madani Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Prime Minister stressed that MPs must do more than attend sittings, but actively contribute to meaningful debate in the House.
Fahmi added that the government has identified four priority Bills for the session: legislation to limit the Prime Minister’s term to 10 years or two terms, a Bill to separate the roles of the Public Prosecutor and the Attorney General, the Ombudsman Bill 2025, and a Freedom of Information Bill.
The parliamentary sitting will open with the Royal Address by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, followed by debates, ministers’ question time and the tabling of Bills through early March.
