KUALA LUMPUR, January 21 — Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is reported to be in stable condition and making encouraging progress after sustaining a fracture to his right hip following a fall at his residence in The Mines on 6 January 2026.
He was subsequently admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN), where he is currently undergoing non-surgical physiotherapy treatment. After 14 days of care, the medical team and specialists have expressed satisfaction with his recovery progress.
While doctors note that the rehabilitation process is expected to take time, Tun Dr. Mahathir and his family have conveyed their sincere appreciation to the public for the continuous prayers and well-wishes.
On medical advice, visits are currently restricted to immediate family members only, and the family has apologized for any inconvenience caused by these necessary limitations.
