KUALA LUMPUR, January 22 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming reaffirmed the MADANI government’s commitment to expanding home ownership through the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP), which aims to help more than 100,000 individuals own their first homes by the end of 2026.

With RM16 billion in guarantee value still available for applications. Since its launch in 2008, the scheme’s total guarantee ceiling has reached RM40 billion, with RM23.17 billion approved as of September 30, 2025, benefiting 97,180 buyers, particularly from the B40 and M40 groups, including gig economy workers and youths.

Offering guarantees of up to RM500,000 and up to 120 per cent financing under the MADANI SJKP, alongside step-up financing introduced in 2025 to ease early repayment burdens, the ministry said it will continue close monitoring and engage Bank Negara Malaysia to encourage broader bank participation in ensuring inclusive and sustainable housing financing nationwide.
