KUALA LUMPUR, January 22 — Lalaport at Bukit Bintang City Centre is expected to receive its licence as a public transport hub for Kuala Lumpur–Singapore express bus services as early as February, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
He noted that the Transport Ministry, together with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, is expediting the approval process, adding that Lalaport is almost fully ready compared with other proposed locations that still require facility upgrades.
Loke said the hub is designed specifically to serve the KL–Singapore travel segment and attract tourists directly into the city centre, while major terminals such as Terminal Bersepadu Selatan and Terminal Bersepadu Gombak remain focused on domestic long-distance routes.
He added that express bus operators have been given a temporary grace period to continue operating at existing locations, but will be required to relocate to licensed hubs once approvals are finalised, stressing that roadside stops deemed unsafe will no longer be allowed in the long term.
