PUTRAJAYA, January 27 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude over the ringgit’s continued recovery, which reached RM3.968 against the US dollar this morning, marking a significant rebound from the RM4.74 level in November 2022 when he took office.
Speaking after delivering his speech at the National Audit Department’s 120th anniversary, Anwar said simply, “Alhamdulillah,” acknowledging the currency’s improved performance. Economists attribute the ringgit’s strength to Bank Negara Malaysia’s recent decision to maintain the overnight policy rate at 2.75 per cent.
Alongside positive economic indicators that have boosted investor confidence. Analysts predict the Malaysian currency is likely to continue its gradual appreciation throughout 2026, reflecting a more stable and resilient economic outlook.
