KUALA LUMPUR, February 6 — Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu assured that the supply of chicken and eggs in Malaysia is stable and sufficient to meet demand ahead of Chinese New Year and Ramadan.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, he highlighted that the ministry’s data indicates a healthy supply, while also cautioning that enforcement against smuggling and balanced import management remain key to protecting domestic producers.

Mohamad also outlined support for small-scale breeders facing rising feed costs, with Mardi and the Department of Agriculture introducing alternative feed materials such as palm kernel, black soldier fly larvae, and locally grown maize.

The minister added that 19 financing facilities totalling RM62.7 million have been approved for the livestock subsector, helping breeders transition to modern practices like closed coop systems, though no specific subsidies have yet been provided for this transition.
