GEORGE TOWN, February 7 – The Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) has urged the government to immediately ban glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicides, citing serious health and environmental risks and the December 2025 retraction of a key industry-linked safety study.

CAP said continued reliance on the chemical is no longer justified. The group highlighted links to cancer, genetic damage and environmental harm, and called for the revocation of approvals for glyphosate-tolerant GM foods.

Urging Malaysia to move towards safer and more sustainable agricultural practices.
