The Sony World Photography Awards has unveiled the shortlists for its 2026 Student and Youth competitions, recognising emerging talent from around the globe. The Student shortlist features 10 university photographers whose series explore the theme Together, capturing human connection, community, and shared experiences.

With projects ranging from family bonds in Argentina to gentrification in Philadelphia. The Youth shortlist highlights 10 photographers aged 19 and under, showcasing striking single images of nature, wildlife, and human interaction from countries including the UK, Sri Lanka, and China.

Winners of the Student Photographer of the Year and Youth Photographer of the Year will be revealed at a gala ceremony in London on 16 April 2026. The top student will receive Sony Digital Imaging equipment worth €30,000 for their university.

While the youth winner will receive equipment to support their creative growth. The shortlists offer a glimpse of the next generation of photography trailblazers, blending technical skill with inventive storytelling across diverse cultures and landscapes.
