KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh today outlined five key strategies aimed at making the Federal Territories the best places to live, during the Federal Territories investiture ceremony at Istana Negara in conjunction with Federal Territory Day 2026.

The strategies focus on building a sustainable living ecosystem anchored in integrity, enhancing urban cleanliness, strengthening public safety through improved flood mitigation, promoting people’s wellbeing, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in cities.

Yeoh also highlighted plans to reinforce Kuala Lumpur as an economic hub, maintain Putrajaya as the administrative centre, and develop Labuan as a blue economy and tourism hub in Borneo. Yeoh emphasised the importance of clean governance and pledged zero tolerance for corruption or abuse of power across all Federal Territories initiatives.

Aligning with the government’s goal of fostering public trust. She expressed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim for consenting to her appointment and reaffirmed her commitment, along with all Federal Territories officials, to advance the wellbeing of residents.

Highlighting economic performance, she noted Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya recorded 62% GDP growth, while Labuan grew 5.4%, surpassing the national average of 5.1%, reflecting the success of targeted development initiatives in the territories.
