BANGI, March 22 — WADAH has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into allegations circulating online regarding the purported involvement of a Universiti Malaya (UM) academic in the Freemason organisation.

Describing the matter as one that has sparked public concern and touched on religious sensitivities. In a statement, Secretary-General Tuan Haji Azizuddin Ahmad said the group views the issue seriously and urged UM’s top management to conduct a comprehensive internal probe.

With firm disciplinary action if the claims are substantiated, to safeguard the integrity of the nation’s higher education institutions. WADAH also called on the Ministry of Higher Education and relevant Islamic authorities.

Including JAKIM and JAWI, to monitor and take appropriate action under existing laws should any activities be found to contravene public order or the position of Islam as the Religion of the Federation, stressing that national education must remain anchored in strong moral and societal values.
