KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — The Malayan Sun Bear has been unveiled as the iconic symbol of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), highlighting Malaysia’s commitment to biodiversity and wildlife conservation.
The endangered species inspired the campaign’s official mascots, Wira and Manja, designed in a friendly animated form to reflect the country’s warm and welcoming spirit. Through this initiative, Malaysia aims to promote ecotourism while reinforcing its global image.
As a vibrant and inclusive travel destination. Visitors can explore the natural habitats of the Malayan Sun Bear at premier attractions nationwide, including the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre in Sandakan, Zoo Negara Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, Zoo Taiping and Night Safari.
In Perak and Lok Kawi Wildlife Park in Sabah, among others. The campaign encourages travellers to experience Malaysia’s rich natural heritage, support conservation efforts and engage in sustainable, nature-based tourism that celebrates the inspiration behind Wira and Manja.
