PUTRAJAYA, March 2 — Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the 26 per cent increase in contributions under the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) i-Topup scheme for the year ended December 31, 2025 reflects strong public confidence in Malaysia’s financial institutions.

Formerly known as voluntary excess contributions, the i-Topup scheme allows employees and employers to contribute beyond the statutory 11 or 12 per cent rate, up to RM100,000 annually, to boost retirement savings.

The Employees Provident Fund also declared a 6.15 per cent dividend for 2025, with total payouts of RM79.6 billion and distributable income rising 9.5 per cent to RM82.7 billion. Voluntary contributions reached RM19.2 billion, while i-Saraan surged 50.8 per cent to RM4.0 billion.

Signalling improved participation from gig and informal-sector workers. Amir Hamzah said these trends demonstrate inclusive, sustainable growth under the Madani government despite global economic uncertainties.
