PUTRAJAYA, March 2 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that Form Six will be reclassified as post-secondary education and placed under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
He said the move aligns Form Six with other pre-university pathways such as foundation and matriculation programmes, better preparing students for university entry.
Anwar added that Form Six students should no longer be regarded as schoolchildren, stressing that all post-secondary programmes will now come under MoHE.
Speaking during a breaking of fast event with staff from the Education Ministry and MoHE, Anwar said the reclassification addresses concerns that Form Six had been overlooked compared to other pre-university routes.
He previously announced during the launch of the National Education Blueprint 2026–2035 that MoHE would fully take over the pre-university system this year.
