TELUK BAHANG, March 3 – The 129th Masimagam Theppa Thiruvizha (Floating Chariot Festival) took place on March 2, 2026, at Sri Singamuga Kaliamman Temple, drawing devotees and visitors to the coastal town of Teluk Bahang.

The annual celebration, which began at 5:30 PM, is one of Malaysia’s significant Hindu cultural events, steeped in more than a century of tradition. The highlight of the festival was a beautifully decorated and brightly illuminated chariot that was ceremonially navigated across the sea.

Symbolising sacred rites and devotion. Crowds gathered early along the shoreline to witness the vibrant procession, which combined religious observance with a striking visual display. The event once again underscored Penang’s rich multicultural heritage and enduring spiritual traditions.
