The Sony World Photography Awards has unveiled 30 finalists and over 65 shortlisted photographers for its 2026 Professional competition, selected from more than 430,000 entries across 200 countries and territories.

Celebrating nearly two decades of excellence, the competition honours compelling bodies of work that demonstrate technical mastery and powerful storytelling. Ten category winners will be announced at a gala in London on April 16.

Where the Photographer of the Year will receive US$25,000, Sony digital imaging equipment and a solo showcase at next year’s exhibition. A selection of finalist and shortlisted works will be exhibited at Somerset House from April 17 to May 4, 2026, before touring internationally.

Jury Chair Monica Allende praised the entries for highlighting resilience, love and the human spirit within complex realities, noting the growing strength of photography as a medium for meaningful visual storytelling.
