KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — ZTE Corporation has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with SACOFA Sdn Bhd to accelerate Sarawak’s PCDS 2030 and Digital Economy 2030 initiatives.
The collaboration supports SACOFA’s ongoing state-wide network modernisation programme, aimed at strengthening sustainable digital infrastructure and expanding reliable connectivity across urban and rural communities.
Under the partnership, both parties will explore deploying integrated fibre technologies such as GPON and XGS-PON, high-speed Fixed Wireless Access, rural pilot base stations and secure public Wi-Fi platforms.
Hybrid microwave and satellite backhaul systems, solar-powered solutions and intelligent monitoring platforms will also be introduced to address remote area challenges.
ZTE Malaysia managing director Steven Ge said the initiative reinforces long-term digital inclusion, while SACOFA CEO Jafer Sadig Abdul Lathiff highlighted its role in advancing Sarawak’s transformation into a leading digital economy.
