GEORGE TOWN, March 5 – The former business partner of Malaysian influencer Siew Pui Yi has been remanded for four days to assist police investigations into an alleged cheating case involving RM4.3 million.

Magistrate Nur Syahirah Suhkri issued the remand order for Lai Kai Jian, also known as “Mentos”, following his arrest in connection with the probe under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

The remand was confirmed by Timur Laut deputy police chief Lee Swee Sake. The case stems from a lawsuit filed by Pui Yi, who previously obtained a default judgment at the Penang High Court in July 2024.

To recover RM4.3 million allegedly entrusted to Lai to settle her tax liabilities with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia. She claimed Lai absconded with the funds.

Which led to tax arrears and a travel ban that caused her to miss several events in Australia.
