KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 – Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim chaired the 2026 National Finance Council meeting at the Ministry of Finance Malaysia complex in Putrajaya on Thursday.

The meeting, which began at 3pm, was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Fadillah Yusof, along with federal ministers and representatives from several state governments.

The annual council serves as a platform for the federal and state administrations to discuss and decide on key financial matters. Among state leaders present were Chow Kon Yeow, Amirudin Shari and Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

The Finance Ministry is expected to release a statement on the outcome of the closed-door meeting later.
