KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 – The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the seizure of LeakBase, one of the world’s largest online forums for cybercriminals to trade stolen data and hacking tools.
The coordinated international operation, conducted on March 3 and 4 across 14 countries, was hosted by Europol in The Hague. Authorities shut down the forum, seized its domains, and collected digital evidence from users’ accounts, messages, and credit information.
In Malaysia, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that its Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at a Kuala Lumpur web hosting company, identifying servers used by LeakBase.
Digital evidence was seized, and the forum’s domain was shut down. FBI Assistant Director Brett Leatherman emphasized that no cybercriminal is truly anonymous online, highlighting the global effort to tackle cybercrime and strengthen digital security.
