GEORGE TOWN, March 12 – Penang industries are closely monitoring potential disruptions to logistics, supply chains, and rising energy prices following escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the conflict could lead to higher production costs, particularly due to increasing oil prices and possible disruptions to global shipping routes.
He added that industries should begin planning short- and medium-term strategies to mitigate possible operational challenges.
Companies may need to adjust delivery schedules as some shipping routes are affected. However, Chow noted it is still too early to determine the full impact on Penang’s manufacturing sector.
As the situation has only developed over the past week and continues to evolve.
