KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced a 50 per cent toll discount nationwide in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The initiative will run for 48 hours from March 18 to March 19 and is expected to cost the government about RM21 million in compensation to toll concessionaires.
The discount applies only to Class 1 private vehicles and excludes tolls at border crossings. In addition, the government will expedite bankruptcy discharges for 4,000 vulnerable individuals ahead of the festive season.
The move complements other relief measures aimed at easing financial burdens, including cash assistance and early aid disbursements, while encouraging Malaysians to spend prudently during celebrations.
