GEORGE TOWN, March 21 — Lim Guan Eng has welcomed the initiative by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook to convene a meeting with Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to resolve the ongoing dispute over the state’s quit rent hike.

He noted that the issue has drawn widespread concern, with some cases reportedly increasing by over 3,000 times. Lim said he had exhausted internal channels before speaking publicly and will refrain from further statements until the meeting is held.

He also assured affected landowners that his service centres in Bagan and Air Putih will continue assisting with appeal submissions, with about 800 landowners helped so far.
