KOTA KINABALU, March 28 — The Election Court has struck out a petition by Datuk Harun Ismail challenging the Pitas state seat won by Datuk Seri Ruddy Awah.

The decision, delivered via Zoom by High Court judge Wong Siong Tung, followed preliminary objections raised by the respondents.

The court also ordered Harun Ismail to pay RM15,000 to Ruddy and RM15,000 jointly to the returning officer and Election Commission.

Ruddy, Assistant Minister of Works and Utilities, had won the Pitas seat with 5,754 votes, defeating Harun’s 4,189 in a six-cornered contest.

The petition, filed last December, sought to nullify the November 2025 election, citing alleged electoral misconduct.
