KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 — Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng has called on the government to implement urgent financial relief measures for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Struggling with rising operational costs linked to the Middle East conflict. He warned that escalating logistics expenses, volatile raw material prices.

And supply chain disruptions are threatening business survival. Lim proposed short-term measures including a loan repayment moratorium.

Suspension of new taxes and compliance costs, and a RM5 billion fund offering interest-free loans to MSMEs.

He noted that worsening global conditions could slow Malaysia’s economic growth, urging swift action to stabilise businesses and protect livelihoods.
