SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Malaysia is operating in “crisis mode” as the ongoing Middle East conflict triggers severe global economic and energy disruptions, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said.
He warned that although the full impact has yet to be felt locally, the situation is serious, with global energy prices surging by over 100 per cent and affecting industries worldwide.
Loke said the government is holding regular economic council meetings and focusing on maintaining fuel supply stability.
He urged Malaysians to adopt fuel-saving habits such as using public transport and reducing unnecessary travel.
While supply remains stable for now, he cautioned that prolonged conflict could lead to shortages, stressing the need for early preparedness and responsible resource use.
