KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — About 9.2 million electricity users in Peninsular Malaysia have saved RM2.8 billion through energy efficiency incentives, introduced to cushion the impact of global fuel price volatility.

Energy Commission Malaysia chief executive Siti Safinah Salleh said households using 600 kWh or less monthly are exempt from the Automatic Fuel Adjustment mechanism, protecting them from fluctuating energy costs.

Consumers using up to 1,000 kWh also qualify for incentives promoting efficient electricity use. Siti Safinah urged the public to adopt energy-saving habits such as using LED lighting.

Setting air conditioners to 24°C, and shifting usage to off-peak hours. She said such measures can reduce bills by up to 10 per cent while supporting national efforts to maintain energy sustainability amid ongoing global uncertainties.
