KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 – The Small and Medium Enterprises Association Malaysia has awarded Steven Sim an “A” for his first 100 days as entrepreneur development minister, citing swift financial support for SMEs.
The group praised the RM2 billion disbursed to over 88,000 businesses under the “Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia” campaign, calling it timely relief amid economic uncertainty.
However, Samenta said deeper structural reforms are needed to sustain growth. It urged the government to reduce GLC involvement in non-strategic sectors, address labour shortages.
And cut bureaucratic red tape, while encouraging stronger domestic brands to enhance Malaysia’s global competitiveness.
