KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — The government has maintained subsidised fuel prices despite rising global oil costs triggered by the ongoing energy crisis in West Asia.
Under the latest pricing, RON97 increased to RM5.35 per litre, unsubsidised RON95 to RM4.27, and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia to RM6.72.
However, subsidised RON95 under the BUDI95 programme remains at RM1.99, while diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan stays at RM2.15, reflecting continued targeted support.
The Ministry of Finance said current prices are based on the previous week’s average, meaning recent global price drops have yet to take effect.
Temporary measures include a reduced BUDI95 quota of 200 litres monthly and capped diesel purchases.
Additional RM300 aid for eligible diesel users will continue in April, as the government balances fiscal responsibility with protecting public welfare.
