KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 — Malaysia has taken a major step towards strengthening its semiconductor industry with the soft launch of MyChipStart, aimed at accelerating local chip design capabilities.
The initiative, introduced under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, responds to industry calls for structured support to scale innovation.
And move beyond traditional assembly, testing and packaging strengths. Aligned with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy.
MyChipStart seeks to nurture startups, lower barriers for local talent and strengthen domestic supply chains.
The programme aims to create “10+100” Malaysian semiconductor champions through public-private collaboration.
With Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology Centre leading execution. Officials say the initiative will position Malaysia as a global hub not just for manufacturing chips.
But for designing and owning intellectual property in emerging sectors like AI and automotive technology.
