PETALING JAYA, April 12 — Authorities have assured Malaysians that the nation’s fuel supply remains stable despite temporary stockouts at several Shell stations.
Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh said the disruptions were caused by short-term spikes in demand in certain locations, not a nationwide shortage.
She urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, stressing that overall fuel reserves are sufficient and closely monitored by both the government and industry players.
Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd confirmed that while it is working to maintain consistent supply across its retail network, fluctuations in demand may result in temporary shortages at select stations.
The company said it is prioritising efforts to restore supply as quickly as possible and minimise inconvenience to customers.
Officials reiterated that the subsidised RON95 petrol price remains at RM1.99 per litre, and cooperation from the public is key to ensuring smooth distribution and continued stability in fuel supply nationwide.
