GEORGE TOWN, April 30 – A coalition of 57 organisations has urged the Malaysian government to review operations by Lynas Rare Earths Ltd.
Citing concerns over a supply agreement with the United States Department of War. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The groups warned that the deal could link Malaysia to foreign military supply chains and potentially conflict with its non-aligned foreign policy stance.
The organisations, led by Third World Network, called for stricter oversight, including transparency, independent audits and stronger laws to ensure compliance with international law.
They highlighted risks related to sovereignty, environmental impact and potential complicity in global conflicts, urging authorities to impose safeguards or suspend approvals if necessary.
