PUTRAJAYA, April 17 — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said 299 pieces of fake content related to the global energy crisis have been removed by social media platforms.
Out of 450 identified by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). He said the removal rate currently stands at 66 per cent, with the rest still being processed.
Fahmi said Facebook accounted for the highest volume of false content, followed by TikTok, while investigations have also led to 57 papers being opened.
He added that enforcement action is ongoing, including prosecution and compound orders, as the government intensifies efforts to curb online misinformation.
