KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — Malaysia’s private healthcare sector is strengthening its position as a global medical tourism hub.

Attracting 1.84 million international patients and generating RM3.34 billion in revenue in 2025.

Industry leaders say the country’s success is driven by a combination of high clinical standards and cost competitiveness.

With around 80 private hospitals actively catering to international patients. Accreditations from global and local bodies further reinforce confidence in Malaysia’s healthcare quality.

The sector’s economic impact continues to expand, contributing billions to the national economy while creating high-value jobs and reducing talent outflow.

With revenue projected to reach RM7 billion by 2030, private hospitals are also boosting related industries such as hospitality and retail.

Health screenings remain a key entry point for medical tourists, while demand for specialised treatments continues to grow as Malaysia positions itself strongly in the global healthcare travel market.
