CYBERJAYA, April 25 — Malaysia achieved a historic milestone as direct tax collections surged to RM203.991 billion in 2025.
The highest ever recorded by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL) and the first time surpassing the RM200 billion mark since its establishment in 1996.
The achievement was celebrated during HASiL’s 30th anniversary, marking three decades of strengthening the nation’s tax administration system.
The strong revenue performance enabled the government to allocate an additional RM11.4 billion to systematically settle outstanding tax refunds for companies.
Reflecting improved fiscal management and transparency. The anniversary event, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof in Cyberjaya.
Also highlighted HASiL’s continued focus on digitalisation, innovation and readiness for global economic challenges.
Including the digital economy and artificial intelligence, to ensure a resilient and sustainable tax system for Malaysia’s future.
