BATU KAWAN, April 26 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has defended the appointment of Abdul Halim Aman as the new chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Citing his judicial background and independence from political and business interests. Anwar said Abdul Halim’s credentials make him the right choice to lead the agency at a crucial time.
With his two-year term set to begin on May 13. The appointment marks the end of Azam Baki’s tenure, whose contract was not renewed.
Anwar stressed that selecting a leader free from external influence is key to restoring public confidence and strengthening the commission’s integrity.
Especially amid ongoing calls for reform within the anti-graft body.
