KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 — Police are investigating an incident involving fireworks being set off during the “Tangkap Azam Baki” rally near Jalan Raja, after a bag of unlit fireworks was also discovered at the scene.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the rally, which drew about 300 participants, was otherwise peaceful with no injuries or property damage reported.
However, he confirmed that the fireworks incident is being investigated under the Explosives Act, and police are working to identify those responsible.
Witnesses will be called to assist in the probe, while authorities also urged members of the public to come forward with information.
He added that organisers did not notify police in advance, and the rally concluded around 5.35pm under close monitoring by around 200 officers.
