KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — The federal government will scale down official events across ministries and agencies, following instructions from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
He said all programmes, including workshops and large-scale activities involving government-linked companies and agencies, must be conducted in a more moderate and prudent manner.
The directive was discussed during the National Economic Action Council meeting as part of broader efforts to manage public spending efficiently.
Fahmi clarified that while operating expenditures are being reviewed and optimised, there are no plans to retable Budget 2026 in Parliament.
He added that the government is also focusing on better coordination of initiatives such as the Kampung Angkat Madani programme to ensure alignment across federal and parliamentary levels.
