KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — Malaysia’s electric vehicle adoption continues to grow steadily, with 94,165 Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) passenger units registered nationwide since 2018.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof who also serves as Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said EVs are now a strategic necessity.
Linked to investment, industrial competitiveness and energy security. Speaking after chairing the National EV Steering Committee (NEVSC) Meeting No.1/2026 at Menara MITI.
He said the government aims to strengthen Malaysia’s EV ecosystem through coordinated and high-impact initiatives to support long-term industry growth and competitiveness.
