CYBERJAYA, September 24 — Malaysia’s Content Forum has opened a 45-day public consultation on proposed gaming standards aimed at strengthening player protection, particularly for children.
The Gaming Sub-Code covers age classification, parental controls, in-game purchases, virtual currencies, loot boxes, gacha mechanics, harmful content and harassment.
It also proposes safeguards for children and younger players participating in esports. Developed with gaming companies, technology platforms, academics, esports representatives.
And child-safety groups, the draft will remain open for public feedback until Oct 24 before being finalised.
