GEORGE TOWN, September 29 — Penang wants more local small and medium enterprises to become part of global semiconductor supply chains as the state continues attracting investment.
At the MSIA SME–MNC Connect Day 2026, the state government urged SMEs to understand multinational companies’ procurement, technology and supplier requirements/
And invest in capabilities needed to compete globally. The event brought SMEs together with companies including Intel, Infineon, AT&S, TF AMD, MKS and SanDisk.
Emerging opportunities include advanced packaging, artificial intelligence in manufacturing and wide-bandgap technologies. The state said stronger local suppliers.
Would reinforce Penang’s competitiveness as a semiconductor and manufacturing hub.
