MELAKA, September 22 — The Melaka State Legislative Assembly will be dissolved Wednesday, paving the way for the state’s 16th election.
Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said Governor Mohd Ali Rustam had consented to the early dissolution, ending weeks of speculation over the polls.
The Election Commission will determine nomination and polling dates, with an election required within 60 days of dissolution. Ab Rauf said the caretaker government would continue public services.
Until a new administration is formed. Barisan Nasional won 21 of 28 seats in the 2021 election, while Pakatan Harapan secured five and Perikatan Nasional two.
