KUALA LUMPUR, September 24 — MANDIRI said executive director Amir Hariri Abd Hadi and finance director Dobby Chew were arrested Tuesday after giving statements to police at Bukit Aman.
The civil society group said both had cooperated with investigators, including during a Sept 18 raid on offices shared by MANDIRI and HAYAT.
MANDIRI said it was informed the arrests were linked to an investigation under Section 4(1)(a) of Malaysia’s anti-money laundering law.
The group criticised the arrests as continued pressure against civil society and called for both men to be released immediately. Police have not publicly detailed the alleged underlying offence.
