BATU KAWAN, September 25 — Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said improving Malaysian wages should be a priority in Budget 2027 as the economy continues to grow.
He said Malaysia has recorded encouraging growth despite continuing geopolitical uncertainty and should now focus more strongly on workers’ incomes.
Akmal said wage improvements must go together with efforts to strengthen companies and move Malaysian industries into higher-value activities.
He said initiatives such as the RM25 million National ATE Campus in Penang could strengthen local companies, create better jobs and ultimately deliver more meaningful wages for Malaysians.
